A small but definitely a cult German company Waldorf has announced its new flagship instrument at Musikmesse 2017 – Waldorf Quantum. It's an 8-voice hybrid synthesizer which takes after the legendary Wave – Quantum sports its best features: digital oscillators and analog filters thanks to which we get this matchless sound. Axel Hartmann announced the date when his long-awaited virtual analog synth Hartmann 20 comes into production. The release of this mega synthesizer was planned to hit June 2016 but was postponed due to some bug “hunt”. Eventually the creators let us know that the development process is going to the finish line and that now it sounds the way a €20 000 instrument should (taxes not included ;). Analog generator waveform is far from being perfect – it’s unstable and suffers from inevitable voltage-brought deformation. Many of the analog filters are unsteady – you might hear some noises, phase shift or self-oscillation. But these very drawbacks make the signal so brisk, lively – well, actually, alive indeed.
