The Korg Nautilus 61 delivers much of the functionality of the acclaimed Kronos workstation in a more affordable and compact package. This 61-key model features Korg's Natural Touch semi-weighted keyboard with velocity sensitivity, making it highly responsive and expressive for both studio and stage applications.
At its core, the Nautilus harnesses nine distinct synthesizer engines in a single integrated instrument. The SGX-2 Premium Piano engine offers the sounds of famed grand pianos including German and Italian models with 12-step velocity switching and string resonance. The EP-1 MDS Electric Piano engine realistically reproduces seven different electric piano sounds using Multi-Dimensional Synthesis technology. The HD-1 High Definition PCM engine represents the most powerful PCM sound engine in Korg's history, while the CX-3 Tonewheel Organ precisely models classic tonewheel instruments with proprietary vacuum tube amp modeling.
Advanced synthesis capabilities include the AL-1 analog modeling engine with ultra-low-aliasing oscillators, the STR-1 physical modeling engine for plucked strings, and the MOD-7 Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer combining Variable Phase Modulation with PCM sample playback. The legacy collection features the MS-20EX and PolysixEX engines, faithfully reproducing these classic analog synthesizers using Component Modeling Technology.
The Nautilus replaces the Kronos' KARMA system with a powerful polyphonic arpeggiator featuring four scenes per program, each capable of holding arpeggio patterns and drum patterns or step sequences. The 7-inch color touchscreen interface provides intuitive control, though with fewer physical controls compared to the Kronos to achieve the lower price point.
With 2GB of PCM RAM, a 60GB SSD providing 53GB of storage, and comprehensive sampling capabilities, the Nautilus offers extensive sound creation possibilities. The built-in 16-track MIDI sequencer and 16-track hard disk recorder provide complete music production capabilities.
