In 1999 Korg introduced another excellent synthesizer of the ElecTribe line - M (EM-1). Given the size of the instrument, you can’t imagine how many functions are stored internally. A stunning hybrid made of ElecTribe EA-1 and ER-1 is stuffed with features you wouldn’t expect. A versatile device incorporates a 2-section synthesizer and a drum machine.

Full-featured Korg ElecTribe M (EM-1) has an impressive set of percussion instruments. The set includes 144 kinds of different waves which are easily assigned to patterns. The synthesizer includes 50 waveforms featuring 2-part patterns. All basic parameters of sound waves are edited through Part common and Synth Filter responsible for volume and pan adjustment, setting of envelopes, filters, etc. There’s a low-pass 12 dB filter.

The tiny "groove box" has a sequencer that includes 256 patterns and 16 songs. The 1-bar pattern carries 16 pads (or 16 notes) – it can be increased to 4 bars. The "Step Edit" button removes unnecessary steps. It is difficult to leave unnoticed a dual effects processor, consisting of a master delay and alternative signal processing. Additional settings include reverb, flanger/chorus, phaser, ring modulation, pitch shifter, compressor, distortion, decimator, resonator and delay. Korg Electribe M (EM-1) was used by the Prodigy.
