The Bree6 is a six-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer built around a fully analog signal path, delivering the warmth and character that only true analog circuitry can provide. Each of its six voices is built around a dedicated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) paired with a sub oscillator, giving the instrument a naturally rich, layered sound from a single voice alone. The signal flows through a mixer, a classic 4-pole low-pass ladder voltage-controlled filter (VCF), and a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) — a signal path that keeps the audio entirely in the analog domain from oscillator to output.

Control signals, including a single low-frequency oscillator (LFO) and two ADSR-type envelope generators, are generated digitally, blending the precision and stability of modern digital control with the expressive, living quality of analog sound generation. Rounding out the sound design toolkit is an onboard effects processor with both chorus and delay, adding depth and dimension without requiring external gear.

Interface and Connectivity

The Bree6 is built around a philosophy of direct, immediate control: one knob per function, with no menu diving. Every parameter is accessible at a glance, making it equally at home in a live performance setting or a studio environment. Connectivity is equally comprehensive, with MIDI In, Out, and Thru, USB, balanced stereo audio outputs on 1/4" TRS jacks, a stereo headphone output, and CV inputs for integration with modular systems.

Oscillator

Each voice features a single VCO with sawtooth and pulse waveforms. The pulse width can be modulated in real time by the LFO, opening up a wide range of timbral movement from subtle animation to dramatic spectral sweeping. Oscillator tuning is fully adjustable, and the LFO can be routed to pitch for vibrato-style modulation. Beneath the main oscillator sits a dedicated sub oscillator generating a square wave one octave lower, adding body and low-end weight to any patch without consuming additional voice resources.

Filter

The Bree6 uses a 4-pole ladder-type low-pass filter with resonance control — the same topology found in some of the most revered synthesizers in history. The filter can be driven into self-oscillation via the resonance control and responds to modulation from multiple sources: EG1 controls the filter envelope, with velocity sensitivity determining how hard you play affects the depth of the envelope sweep. The LFO can also be routed to the filter for cyclic modulation, and real-time expressive control is available via the modulation wheel and aftertouch, making the filter highly responsive to performance gestures.

Effects: Chorus and Delay

The onboard stereo ensemble chorus uses multiple delay lines, each modulated by its own dedicated LFO, to recreate the lush, shimmering quality of a string or vocal ensemble. The effect runs in stereo throughout, spreading the sound across the image. The stereo delay offers up to one full second of delay time, providing everything from tight rhythmic repetitions to long, atmospheric echoes. Both effects are processed by a 32-bit DSP engine running at 48 kHz, with 24-bit DAC/ADC conversion, keeping the effects signal clean and transparent against the analog source.

LFO

The single LFO covers a broad frequency range from 0.1 Hz up to 100 Hz, spanning from slow evolving sweeps to audio-rate modulation. Five waveform shapes are available: triangle, ramp up, ramp down, square, and random (sample and hold). The LFO can be routed to the VCO for pitch or pulse width modulation, to the VCF for filter modulation, and to the VCA for tremolo-style amplitude modulation, giving it a central role across the entire signal path.

Envelope Generators

Two independent ADSR-type envelope generators provide precise control over the dynamic shape of each voice. EG1 is dedicated primarily to the filter, shaping how the frequency content evolves over the course of a note, while EG2 governs the amplifier, controlling the overall volume contour. Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release are independently adjustable on both, allowing everything from snappy percussive hits to slow, evolving pads.

MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE)

The Bree6 supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), enabling per-note expressive dimensions such as per-note pitch bend, pressure, and slide when paired with a compatible MPE controller. This unlocks a level of performance nuance that goes well beyond standard MIDI, making the instrument a natural partner for advanced expressive controllers. The Bree6 has been carefully tested with the Osmose, LinnStrument, and GeoShred for verified compatibility.
