XV-5080 represents the amazing sound and expressive synthesizer/sample player architecture. The module allows for up to 128MB of Roland, Akai, .WAV and AIFF samples.
Preset memory offers 1152 patches, 64 performances and 23 rhythm sets while user memory comprises 128 patches, 64 performances and 4 sets. 90 different types of multi effects can be applied letting you put your sound through 3 MFX simultaneously in Performance Mode. There are also 4 types of reverb, 2 types of chorus and a 2-band EQ per output offered. Effects processors include 24-bit reverbs, COSM modeling, remix, RSS 3D effects, and more.
Expansion slots are represented with a SR-JV80 Series 4-slot, SRX Series 4-slot and 2 SIMM slots for sampler memory. An external storage is possible via a supported SmartMedia Card.
The specs together with the large screen, user-friendly interface and excellent connectivity prove that even 15 years after being launched XV-5080 is a perfect and instrument which is still in demand among professionals and is popular on the secondary market.
XV-3080, XV-5050 and Fantom XR can be listed as the alternative to XV-5080. Among the competing instruments of that era, we can mention KORG Triton Rack and Yamaha Motif-Rack ES. However, it is Roland XV-5080 that occupies a leading position regarding each parameter.
