The AKAI S612 is a 12-bit digital sampler released by Akai in 1985. It was one of the first samplers to feature a 12-bit sampling resolution and was capable of sampling up to 6.25kHz. The S612 was one of the first samplers to use a floppy disk drive for storing samples, allowing users to store large amounts of samples and sequences. It was also one of the first samplers to feature MIDI control, allowing it to be used in conjunction with other MIDI devices.
